Im fine with it. People need to remember. Whether there was injury or not, its Marchand. The intent was there.

6 games that'll learn him... Until the next time he slew foots, punches, slashes or licks an opposing player.

Which if you think about should have been more than six if that was truly factored in. Based on the refs call, the suspension starts at five games and the hearing was to determine if it should be more. I could be wrong about that, but I'm pretty sure that was the rule based on the ref's call on the ice.

It wasn't like this happened in a scrum. Skating up to an unassuming defenseless player and punching him directly in the head is basically assault. I'm not trying to sound overdramatic because I'm a Pens fan, but it really is when you think about it. Not to mention he spears Jarry in the face with his stick.

Marchand laughs at six games.

To be fair, Jarry was not unassuming, he was jawing directly at Marchand.

To be fair, Jarry was not unassuming, he was jawing directly at Marchand. He knew it was coming and flopped like he was shot.

None of that changes the fact that it was roughing, it was high sticking/ spear both after the play. So i don't understand how it wasn't "unsportsmanlike conduct"

It absolutely should have been more, there is no more repeat offender, even Wilson (close). This is why i think they called it "roughing and high sticking". because maybe he isn't a repeat offender in those two specific categories, then they don't have to suspend him as many games. They do not want the best player, in a playoff hunt team off the ice for too long.

Yeah unfortunately it's 'bad for the game' if stars are out for prolonged periods. You can throw the book at nobody fourth liners, but when a guy like Marchand does it, slap on the wrist. NHL should have more principle, but instead create an obvious double standard. This idiot very intentionally clipped somebody in the head with his stick. People have lost eyes from that.

“To be fair, Jarry was not unassuming, he was jawing directly at Marchand. He knew it was coming and flopped like he was shot.”

Actually if you rewatch it, Marchand punches Jarry as he’s turning his head away and reaching for his stick. He takes the punch to the side of the head. And Jarry barely falls with zero overselling.
